Who we are
Welcome to New City Press!
Since 1964, New City Press has
published books that build on the centuries-long tradition of the Church,
yet also foster a modern and communitarian approach to Christian living.
Our "Spirituality of Unity" series features the writings of
Focolare founder Chiara Lubich. We also publish spiritual writing by
other contemporary authors such as M. Basil Pennington, George Maloney,
and Olivier Clement.
"Spirituality through the Ages" presents selected writings by men and
women whose experience and doctrine have helped shape Christianity. Recent releases
feature John Henry Newman, Teilhard de Chardin, and Teresa of Avila.
"Understanding the Scriptures" offers accessible Bible commentaries
written by respected scholars, including Daniel Harrington, Dianne Bergant, and
Ronald Witherup.
Our catalog also includes the collected works of important figures in
the history of the Church, featuring new translations and latest scholarship:
the "Works of Saint Augustine" (30 volumes of a projected 45
are available); "Francis and Clare of Assisi: Early Documents"; ”Saint
Vincent de Paul: Correspondence, Conferences, Documents” (10 volumes);
and “Elizabeth Bayley Seton: Collected Writings” (2 volumes).
